Advantages: Discuss Dooyoo related issues with other Dooyooers, have a laugh and make new friends.
Disadvantages: Messages aren't run in threads.
Dooyoo ever want to take your Dooyoo experience one step further? Well you can, and the place to do this is at The Dooyoo Club on Yahoo (http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/dooyoo). It’s a bit like the old American comedy series, Cheers! It’s a chance to make new friends and discuss issues relating to Dooyoo amongst other things mainly chocolate! It’s very friendly, welcoming and after a while everyone knows your name, but sadly without the warm beer and pretzels. For anyone who is new and unfamiliar to the concept of Clubs, The Dooyoo Club is a forum that allows you to post messages, photos and chat with other members. Most of the messages and photos relate to the topic of Dooyoo (DY), but the odd off-topic messages are allowed - you usually you have to bribe the co-ordinator with chocolate (crème eggs are her favourite!). The Club also has a chat room, which is the only part of the Forum that I haven’t used yet. You can chat to the members individually rather than in the chat room, by downloading Yahoo’s chat/messenger software programme. This hasn’t stopped me making new friends and discussing issues relating to DY. The club was set up and is run by Travelnotes and whom Jillmurphy ably assists – both happen to by Dooyoo Hall of Famers & Gurus. So you are in good hands! A few Hall of Famers and Gurus (HoF & Gurus in the making) also use the Yahoo Club. Why should you join up? If you love Dooyoo, ever had problems (I think we’ve all experiences problems with Dooyoo – cheats, deletion of opinions, lack of communication, NU tit-4-tat ratings etc), wanted to discussion opinions you have read, wanted advice about rating or writing opinions, or make recommendations and discuss other issues concerning Dooyoo with other members then this is the place to go! I found it very helpful and supportive when I had problems over the deletion of one of my opinions. It is all very friendly. Although, sometimes there i
s the odd bad egg who comes along to spoil it for the majority. They get quickly shown the door and thrown off of the Yahoo Club (this is major plus compared to a newsgroup forum). I think there have been a few differences of opinion, but my time (last 2 months) it has always been in good humour and problems are usually settled amicably. I enjoy listening to other people’s views about Dooyoo more than anything. What I found refreshing was that the majority of people who use this service were already on my Trust list. The only downside is about the layout of messages within the club. It isn’t a criticism of the club, but the format of the messages can be confusing. Unlike a newsgroup where the messages run in threads on the club they run concurrently - although the advantages hugely outweigh this minor disadvantage. Be there or be square! Join the Dooyoo Club on Yahoo – you know it makes sense! ‘Cheers’ [Note: The Dooyoo Club at Yahoo isn’t run by Dooyoo]

- 10/07/01 A DooYoo club on Yahoo? Never knew it existed - thanks for the info. I am in the Kate Winslet club on Yahoo and have to agree with you about the messages all running chronologically, rather than in threads. Can be a bit confusing! |
