Advantages: Lots of section to visit, plenty of files to download
Disadvantages: Its all american
Cnet is one of two places I go to when I want to find some shareware, the other of course being Zdnet. I do tend to preffer Cnet though becuase it "seems" to have more files in it to choose from, or shall I say its had more of what I want in there. I go to Cnet for all kinds of things, they have lots of shareware, freeware and also things such as desktop themes and wallpapers. Also I go there to get the latest drivers for my hardware because they keep upto date with all the top manufacturers driver updates and patches. Its also the place to go for service packs and updates to things like DirectX. Thats not just what Cnet is about though, there is more to it than just the download section. Cnet also deals in reviews of new hardware and software as well as keeping up to date with the latest news. The news section keeps up to date with all the latest news in the IT industry, mainly from America though as it is an american site. Its still interesting to read though because technology is technology and it will be here eventually. The Hardware and software reviews are simply what you would find in a magazine somewhere, they tell you about the specs and how well they perform, they do not go into as much detail as some of the hardware specialist site like www.tomshardware.com Cnet offers a price comparison service so you can find what you are looking for at the cheapest price but again this has limited use to us in the UK because of it being an American site. As a few extra little things that I find usefull at Cnet, they do some help guides to certain common problems and they offer a game guide aswell help and tip for the latest games, This site is definately worth a vist from time to time especially if you need something computer related, its packed with info and its easy to navigate around.
