Advantages: Rewards for something I would buy anyway
Disadvantages: Codes are sometimes hard to read
I found out about this site/scheme after picking up a can of Diet Coke that had a promotion on it that stated that entering a code found on the bottle would enter me into a daily prize draw for £10,000.
I am a complete Diet Coke addict, and figured with the amount I drink that if I entered each drink, it would be worth my effort as my chances had to be high. I was wrong and never did win...but I did find out about the website runs its scheme all the time regardless of promotions.
What is it?
--------------
www.cokezone.co.uk is a loyalty website created by The Coca Cola Company to reward customers with gifts in the form of vouchers or items, which are calculated using a point scheme.
How it works
-----------------
For every 330ml can of coke that you pick up that has the promotional markings on, there will be a code worth one point on the ring pull. The 500ml bottles hold codes worth 2 points printed on the bottle under the label, as do the larger 2 litre bottles, but these are worth 3 points for their codes.
These codes are then redeemed online and points are added to your account to accumulate until you reach an amount worthy of prise redemption.
Occasionally as I mentioned about, there will be promotions that run alongside the point scheme, such as prize draws or free music downloads. All this means is that on top of the 1, 2 or 3 points you get added to your account, you will also get either a free download from iTunes or an entry into a draw. These promotions run alongside the point scheme as I said and do not replace it at all. You should always get the points for entering the code.
Signing up
--------------
Signing up is extremely easy, simply visit the website and follow the instructions for registering. You will need to enter details including an email address, password and then postal address for sending your chosen reward
The Website
---------------
The website itself is extremely easy to use and navigate, it has a nice red and white colour scheme (wonder where they came up with THAT idea!!! lol)
You have an account tab that you can edit your details in, as well as a clear display bar for you to enter codes and a clear large indicator showing how many you have already. Its password protected and you will have to log in when you visit the website.
There are tabs in your account that include a history of your point (dates you added them etc) and your rewards (what you've ordered) as well as details on any prise draws you have entered through entering codes.
You can browse all the rewards available through the online catalogue, these can be sorted by genre which includes, health and beauty, DVD's, games, vouchers, music, sport etc or by their point value. For example if you have 200 points you can view all items up to this value.
Is it worth it?
-----------------
For how simple it is to join up and providing you are not planning on spending more money on coke than you usually would, then I say it is definitely worth signing up. After all it is getting something for nothing. The website is simple to use and only takes a matter of seconds to sign in and enter a code. Making it an easy on going task to build up your points, without even really realising you are doing anything.
I've been a member for a few months and have 138 points. For this I can get a number of £10 vouchers, including the shop new look and many make up items. I can also nearly afford a number of Xbox games, which for the equivalent of roughly £40 is not bad for a few months of adding the odd code here and there.
I would definitely recommend this site to anyone who is a regular drinker of any of Coke's products, as all varieties are included. Even if you only have the odd drink here and there, it will soon add up to something redeemable which at the end of the day is a little something extra that you wouldn't have had before.
Any Negatives?
--------------------
My only gripe with the system, considering it is a free service, is the fact that on the plastic bottles, some of the codes are really unclear to read making it hard to enter them onto the site. Most of the combinations use a lot of P's F's N's and M's which are all letters that are easily mistakable for each other. If you enter an incorrect code 3 times in a row, the website will not allow you to enter anything again for 24 hours. I do understand this is to stop anyone trying to fool the system, but it's a little frustrating when you are trying to enter a genuine code and the only reason you are having trouble is because it has been printed too close to the glue on the bottle, or the letters are overlapping etc
On the whole this is not a large enough deterrent to stop me visiting the site every time I have a nice cold Diet coke as it is only one in 10 times but still something that could be improved.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: Worth a go if you drink Coke...
