Advantages: Useful for those who drink lots of Coke, some good rewards
Disadvantages: Need lots of points for good rewards, dont get many points per drink, need to drink loads to benefit
Coke Zone is a reward scheme for Coca Cola consumers. The more Coke you buy, the more points you collect and the more rewards you get.
The scheme works by printing 12 digit codes on bottles of Coca Cola, the codes can be found underneath the labels and can only really be read when the bottle is empty (the drink is too dark to see through). You need to register on the Coke Zone website at www.cokezone.co.uk where you must enter some personal information - address and such. An account will then automatically be set up for you where you can log on from any computer - you just need to type in your username and password. When you have a code to enter you should visit the website, log in and enter your code at the top of the page. It takes literally a second to process and add onto your account. Every now and again the website also gives you the opportunity to earn a few extra points through things like polls (for example I took part in a poll today which asked 'What's been your favourite part of Coke Zone this summer?').
I have never been sent junk mail from Coke Zone, only a couple of account statements through to my inbox.
Small bottles of Coke (500ml) are worth 2 points each and bigger bottles (2 litre) are worth 3 points each. To be honest I don't think 2 or 3 points per bottle is really enough considering how much Coke costs and how long it takes for your points to creep up. I can only really recommend Coke Zone to those who drink alot of Coke, otherwise it simply isn't worth it. I decided to join Coke Zone as we sadly seem to guzzle a lot of Coke in my household and I thought it was about time we got something back off them!
The codes can be found on bottles of Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Cherry Coke (and Diet Cherry Coke) and Coke Zero. Stupidly you do not get codes for cans, share size bottles or any other Coca Cola product. If you are out and about you can always text your code to Coke Zone, although I have never done this - I usually write it down on my phone or just keep the bottle until I get home (wow, I never realised how incredibly sad I am).
One thing that I completley can't stand about the codes is that I have had a lot of smudged and ruined codes, so I can't read them and therefore can't get any points for them. The codes are also very small and might be a problem for people with bad sight.
Recently there has been a change to Coke Zone and a weekly limit has been introduced. The maximum you can collect in one week is now 50 points which has caused abit of a stir but which I think is a good idea as I certainly don't drink that much Coke in one week and it's a way of stopping scammers.
You can either spend your points as you get them or save them. I'm personally saving my points for something half decent - I have noticed that the 'cheaper' rewards really are quite naff and don't really appeal to me.
Some things don't even need any points and are considered freebies. These things include bebo skins, myspace layouts, mobile wallpapers, avatars, computer wallpapers and screensavers. They can be found under the 'fun and free' section of the website.
2 Points can get you a prize draw entry to win makeovers, football tickets, concert tickets, televisions and mobile phones, to name a few.
5 - 20 Points can get you money off vouchers and codes for magazine subscriptions, clothing shops and websites, theme parks and attractions, spa treatments, photoshoots, jewellery websites, days out, helicopter rides, football stadium tours, hotel rooms, aswell as ringtones or wallpapers.
21 - 50 Points can get you a Lipsmackers lip balm, Bourjois mini mirror, Bourjois mini nail buffer, Bourjois mini nail varnish, Bourjois mini mascara, Bourjois mini lipstick, Bourjois mini lip gloss, Pogo keyring, Coca Cola wristband, mobile games, mobile/mp3 sock, Coca Cola screenwipe, Coca Cola drawstring bag or Coca Cola mini football. You can also give your points to charity - donations to WWF etc.
51 - 200 Points can get you a Coca Cola backpack or travel bag, a DVD (Eg. Ugly Betty season 1 or 2, Pursuit of Happyness or 21), EA Football Academy for Nintendo DS, MySims for Nintendo Wii, a Coca Cola USB stick, £5.00 off voucher for New Look and Halfords or Coca Cola t-shirts.
201 - 400 Points can get you a number of Nintendo Wii games, an indoor skydiving experience, a design your own perfume experience, football pitch hire or Trivial Pursuit game for the Xbox 360.
Prizes over 400 points come in the form of Ipod nanos, Sony Ericson walkman phones, XBox 360s, CD players, digital cameras and LG cookie phones to name a few. The big rewards change regularly and are not on the website full time. They usually sell out as soon as they are released, so you have to get in there super quick too.
The list of rewards which I have made is just a selection, the full list can be found on the website. Rewards also tend to change alot - more added, some taken away, others put on sale etc.
The website is easy to understand and navigate around and the scheme itself is simple and easy to grasp.
Summary: Good for Cokeheads.

- 08/08/09 As none of my friends bother collecting the codes I get theirs which really helps. Look out for the sales, I got a Scandi-Phone for just 75 points during a reward sale last year! |

- 08/08/09 That was exactly the info I needed - I have a few multipacks of diet coke in but hadn't had chance to nosy round the website to see if it was worth signing up, since I probably won't be getting any more before Christmas. |
