Advantages: Very clear, good information
Disadvantages: could get you hooked!
There are a lot of competition sites out there for you to entertain yourselves with at the moment, but in my opinion, this and another site (loquax.co.uk) are the only sites you need. Why? Well competitions-online.co.uk list enough competitions for you to enjoy yourself with for ages. I could quite easily say that you could be there for a whole day entering different competitions that it has listed, so what else do you need? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for variety and there is a huge variety of competition sites out there for you to use, but this one is probably the best, in my opinion anyway! - THE AIM The aim of the site is to offer competition lovers loads of competitions to enter and in a range of different categories, so you don’t need to trawl through loads of listings to win a bob roll when you want to win a state of the art TV. The competitions are not run by themselves, they only list them, so it’s not one of these sites that try’s their best, but fails to deliver. You have quite a few big name companies listed offering you competitions to enter. All this site is, is a directory of competitions. It saves you hunting out the competitions yourself. - THE SITE The site itself is very easy to use. Basically you have a list of categories down the left hand side of the screen and you choose which category you want to find competitions in. Select it and then you are presented with a list of competitions which you then click on the link to enter. The list of competitions is laid out very well. It not only tells you what you can win, no no, it also tells you when the competition closes, any restrictions that the competition might have (like ‘over 18’s only’ or ‘customers only’) and it also gives you what you have to do to enter the competition. Some competitions are simple to enter, you simply type in your name and address and click the submit button and low
and behold your entered. However, some require a bit more effort on your part, especially the bigger value prizes. Typically these either require you to register yourself with the site offering the prize or to answer a few questions. Some just want you to do a questionnaire, it’s a good way for a company to get feedback! There are 30 competitions listed on the first page, but don’t forget to hit the button on the bottom of the page that says ‘next 30’. Yes, there are more! Theres so many, like I have said, you could be there for hours, and that’s only one of the categories! If you wish you can sign up for their weekly newsletter where they will e-mail you with news on new competitions and also give you tips or answers to some of the competitions requiring you to do something to give you a better chance of winning them. So in effect, you don’t even have to look on their site for new competitions, you can just wait for them to get off their arses and e-mail you! One of the features that I like best is the part where it allows you to list all the competitions that are ending today or that week. If your like me and can’t be bothered entering competitions that end in 3 years, then you can just list the competitions that are ending soon. Therefore, you’ll know whether or not you have won quicker! Another part of the site that might appeal to some is the feature that shows you all competitions that are run daily, weekly or monthly. Bananlotto for example would be a daily competition as you can enter it each day. Brilliant! Maybe you’ve got a website yourself and you’ve got a competition running, you may aswell get some traffic to your site while your running it, so why not add it using the groovy little ‘add competition’ button (actually it’s not groovy, it’s just text, I just felt like putting the word ‘groovy’ somewhere in my opinion, s
o there we go, I done it twice now, so I’m happy!) - CATEGORIES As I have already mentioned, this site has a lot of categories and a huge number of competitions within them. There are 21 categories, so you should find something you like. To make it a bit easier and show you the types of competitions you might find, I’ll give you a run down of probably the most popular categories. # Computers Fancy a palmtop computer? Maybe a laptop. You could win yourself a Lexmark Z42 printer of a Kodak Digital Camera. However, if your more a software person than a hardware person, you might like to enter yourself into the competition offering you the CD of the 2001 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica. #Electrical Ahhh, you’re a gadget freak a bit like me. Then get yourself along to win a DVD player (actually, there are a lot of competitions offering you DVD players). Now try and win yourself a Sony 32” widescreen TV to go with your new DVD player! Not your type of thing? Well enter to win a Combination microwave oven or Candy Fridge Freezer. Theres something here for everyone! #Cash Want to buy your own goods with a nice bundle of cash? Well this is the category for you then! Win anything from £15 - £60,000 and more by entering some of the competition or draws entered here. What can you lose really? Nothing apart from a few minutes of your time! #Kids/Toys Want to treat your kids? Or maybe your just a big kid at heart (a bit like me then!) Pick yourself up £100 worth of Toys’R’Us vouchers or net yourself pokemon on video (I wouldn’t recommend this though as the theme tune will drive you crazy! #Holidays Fancy getting away from it all? Your husband annoying you with the digital camera he has just won? Then get yourself a trip to Las Vegas or if that’s all to hectic for you, why not jet away on a weekend in Barcelona? Obviously the
above competition are correct as I’m writing this, but it’s just to give you a rough idea of the competitions on offer! Other categories you can find are…Health & Beauty, Games, Automobiles, Fashion, Entertainment, Sport and loads more! - DESIGN & NAVIGATION The design is ok. That’s all I’m going to say on that one. Well, actually it’s not. It’s a design that works and if it aint broke, don’t fix it. It’s not at all bad, but it’s not ‘wow’ either and I should think whoever designed it could have done it better. I can’t argue with the way the competitions are listed though. The design here is very clear and you can see exactly what you need to see and nothing else! The navigation is excellent. Everywhere you might want to go is listed very nicely and clearly. You won’t be confused clicking your way around this site! What’s more, I haven’t come across a broken link yet, all the links I clicked on took me where I was expecting to go to! - OVERALL Overall I think this is a great site and I don’t use it as much as I should. I suppose I have just got a little annoyed about never winning anything. But, then again, I’m not going to win anything if I don’t keep trying and I can tell you now that there are a lot of reviews on here where users have said that they have actually won a prize via this site and I know a couple of people in the ‘outside world’ (ooo, scary thought there) that have won using this site. One netted himself a decent stereo too! Go and have a look, a lot of people say they are addicted, but I haven’t got any room for any more addictions at the moment, so this addiction will just have to wait. Good luck! www.online-competitions.co.uk
