Advantages: 5 pounds per survey *if* you win, Quick to do, No spam emails - just survey requests
Disadvantages: Take a while to pay out, Not gauranteed any payment, Can't change your interests without emailing Consumerlink
Consumerlink is an organisation that recruits members to complete surveys online, about things that the user is interested in. The incentive for doing this is being rewarded with iPoints - currently 200 are worth 20 pounds, but this has been highly variable lately. Once you've signed up (which involves normal demographic questions about your lifestyle, interests and personal details) you're sent periodic requests to take part in surveys (in my case, a couple a week). You then have to log on and answer (typically) a couple of pages of questions. Examples from a survery on ITV Digital included questions such as 'what have the adverts told you about ITVD' and 'give advantages of ITVD'. Once you've done this (it only takes 5 minutes or so), you're then entered into a prize draw for 50 iPoints (typically - sometimes more or less). A few months ago, the first 50 or 100 respondants completed the survey (good for me as I was a student then) - so far I've gained 150 iPoints from this, which are worth 15 pounds at the moment. They do take a while to credit the points, though, and I've not won any since they stopped giving them to the first x respondants, which is fairer. Of course, it does mean that you're giving your opinions for free most of the time! Overall not bad, but (from a selfish, personal point of view) they've gone down now that the points are given out in a prize draw.
