Advantages: Do as you please WELL

Disadvantages: No contact with colleagues

I have always said to myself that I would love to be able to work from home but my opinion now has changed since my partner started doing just that.

We have a 3 year old daughter and she goes to the childminders for 4 days a week but on Mondays she is at home and I have to go off to work so my partner has her all to herself and has to try and get loads of work done as well.

So she is constantly having to juggle looking after our daughter and speaking to buisness contacts who are always curious as to the noises in the background.
My daughter also has a habit of hitting buttons on the keyboard of the computer and once even managed to delete loads of work off the screen.

But even if you don't have children it is still not a great way to work as you do get very lonely and your home suddenly becomes the office as well(unless you have a study)
My partner is always moaning that she has no work conversations and nobody to just waffle with as you would in the office.

She also says that she does more work while working from home than she ever would in an office because once you leave the office you leave your work behind but when the computer is just there and you have stuff that needs doing you feel that you should.
The amount of nights that we have sat there with piles of papers organizing and sorting into info and delegate packs is rather scary still good excuse to open a few bottles of wine I suppose.

Working from home may work for some people but for my partner it is a nightmare and I don't think I would like to either now.
Colleagues are a vital part of working and sometimes even make work enjoyable.

Interesting. There may be certain stages in life where working from home suits better than others.

Against this, I took my six month old baby to work with me to my hairdressing salon! I can't think which was the hardest really...;{}

I think when you have young children it's difficult...full stop!

I work at home for my web design job, and it has advantages and disadvantages. The worst one is the lack of contact. It gets so boring stuck inside one room all day long! Wheras at work, I did have a few other employees to talk to...

I know what you mean about children, my 18mth old daughter has managed to delete quite a few of my opinions before I`ve managed to save them, and now has a nasty habit of just turning off the computer, lol.
