Newest Review: ... was the new Star Wars movie. Dark Horizons is a site I have saved in my favourites and visit frequently. The site is divided into neatly organised categories. I usually go straight to the film news and read about the films being made at the moment and the wild rumours that are circulating about movies in the pipeline. This is always interesting, even if the films never actually end up being made - its all inetersting to see how the industry works. Its a lot less wordy and less enthusiastic than Ain't It Cool which is welcome. Most news is written concisely and unbiased. The reviews are also very fair indeed. They also report on upcoming ... more

Premium Review darkhorizons.com: Dark Horizons (339 words)

Like many reviewers on this site, I heard about Dark Horizons very early on in it's lifetime - somewhen in the late 90's. Back then, websites with news and rumours were quite a revelation. With no 'Heat' magazine or the like, movie news came from magazines like 'Premiere' or 'Empire'. But by the time they came out, the news was actually quite old. But then, all we were interested in was the new Star Wars movie. Dark Horizons is a site I have saved in my favourites and visit frequently. The site is divided into neatly organised categories. Crowned Review A mammoth effort from Garth (837 words)

I first read about this website in the recommended section of ComputerActive magazine. After my first visit I bookmarked the site and I have been a regular visitor ever since. The site is run from a base in Sydney by a young man called Garth Franklin, who does a brilliant job of updating the site on what appears to be a daily basis. The site has been running for 6 years, however recently, I feel that it has really taken off, and I find out most of my news and gossip from this site, as many of the others seem to have lost their edge. I am sure this is down to the fact that Garth is like us, he is a fan of entertaining films, and he lists some of them on the site, so you ...  Read the complete review

Since the internet has become more widespread, movie executives all across Hollywood have found their films to be scrutinized at very early stages by joe public. This is thanks to insiders having the chance to blurt out secrets with no fear of being found out. There is also the process of test screening a film in front of an audience to see what's working and what's not. In the case of films like the Rollerball Re-make and D-Tox, the internet hasn't been kind. However sometimes the net creates a buzz about film's which boosts their takings. Once such site at the forefront of movie gossip has been Aintitcoolnews.com. At first this was the site to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dark Horizons - Excellent Movie News (267 words)
by - written on 21/09/01 (Somewhat useful, 60 readings)

I have been a keen reader of Dark Horizons since just after it began, way back in the late nineties. It is among the best movie news/reviews sites out there, right up there with Aint It Cool News, which is a good stable to be in. The coverage is excellent, with clean and clear news articles and reviews. It's got a friendly kind of atmousphere and an over-all community spirit which doesn't seem to carry an ego, as so many sites do. Just simple and effective writing, it's all you need. The main writer Garth, seems to spend alot of time finding stuff out about new and upcoming movies. Which concidering he lives and writes the site from ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review darkhorizons.com: The best film rumour site on the net (200 words)
by - written on 03/06/01 (Useful, 96 readings)

I am a great fan of film and like any other fan I crave information about films - even better I want it before anyone else. I came across the DarkHorizons site about a year ago. It gave me just what I wanted. The main point of the site (as far as I'm concerned) is the rumours section. This is where people from all over the world act as the eyes and ears for the site and sending in their reports. The rumours themselves can be anything from the news that a new sequel is on its way to on set reports from people acting as extras. One of the best features is the occassional photpgraphs that have been snuck off set (eg: Spiderman and Willem Dafoe in his ...  Read the complete review
