Advantages: Reasonable results

Disadvantages: Slightly redundant interface

Another seemingly forgotten online directory is dmoz.org, lacking in reviews for a good few years - I think it's time to bring "Directory Mozilla" back in to the public eye. The idea here is that it's a web directory to rival Yahoo, only whilst Yahoo seems to list any Tom, Dick and Harry, Dmoz is ran by volunteers who keep their eyes peeled for any unwanted customers.

When it comes to submitting your site, this means it is slightly more long-winded than just writing your URL and hey presto! You have to select a category to put it under and add a title and a description. From the moment you've completed that, it takes from 2 weeks to several months to appear there providing your site is not full of duplicate content or is a scam, in which case it will be rejected.

The outcome is a website that lacks charm, it looks a bit ropey and is no way flash at all but the content is accurate and the likes of google, aol (in particular), msn and yahoo - add some of the listings from this directiory in their own time, so it's therefore worthwhile for a webmaster to add themselves to it.

As a visitor, it means that there are far less results on the site but there's also far less rubbish. A nice little alternative but it still could be improved.

Summary: A nice alternative
