Advantages: Search across 15 engines with a single click, very fast, reasonably acurate.

Disadvantages: Can only search for world-wide content.

This search tool allows you to search across 15 different search engines. Like most search engines, you enter your query into the search box and click search, although with this one you click 'fetch'.

One of it's main draw backs is the fact that it only searches for world-wide content, not providing the facility for UK-only searches, which is a major restriction. The 15 search engines it uses include:

* spinks, from about.com

* ah-ha.com
* kanoodle
* direct hit
* real names
* dogpile web catalogue
* dmoz.org
* valleyalley.com
* altavista
* search hippo
* yahoo!

The one thing I do like is it's ability to search for specific types of things, these include:

* Images
* Audio
* Files
* Auction
* News
* FTP
* Discussion
* Multimedia

The searches are performed very quickly and the results are usually fairly accurate. I like to use this search engine when I'm looking for world-wide content, ie nothing specific to the UK.

If I'm looking for UK-specific content, I prefer to use Google.co.uk

Dogpile.com is presented and powered by InfoSpace Inc., which trades on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. This site is another example of how some online corporations tend to diversify and brand their product by opening additional websites, that would seem to be in competition with themselves, but actually compliment their online services.

All in all, it's a search engine worth trying out. If it had the facility to do UK only searches, it would be my number 1!
