Opinions on how to rate and comment on Dooyoo
I would like to say before I start that this review contains MY opinion of the dooyoo site!
Rating Reviews
My personal opinion on how to rate a review is very very simple. Simply choose a review that you wish to read. Read it thoroughly and then decide how useful, informative and interesting it was. The categories for rating are also very very simple-
Did you not find it useful?
Was it a bit useful?
Was it adequately useful?
Or did you find it very useful?
I think reviews should be rated on both how informative it was and also how interesting it was and NOT on how long the review is, how many crowns the writer has, how many review the person has written in a week etc. etc. etc.
Why do I think this?
I can read a very short review and it tells me everything I need to know along with a bit of wit, for me this is great. Alternatively I can read an exceptionally long and exceptionally boring review that really tells me no more information and vice versa. The length of a review in no way reflects my rating it is either useful or not. It does however make me think that the person had gone to considerable time and trouble to write the review, but really does this matter when deciding its usefulness? If everyone simply reads and rates a review on its own merits then I think dooyoo would work substantially better.
Writing Comments
I am very new to dooyoo and still trying to find my feet. I openly welcome any comments that can help me write better and more constructive reviews and also friendly, welcoming and general comments. If I write a review that is really rubbish then please let me know. I do not think that offensive and non-constructive comments however, are okay. I am very aware that some members of dooyoo community have issues with members like myself (nicknamed churners) that write a lot of short reviews in a short space of time, but I do not think this should have any relevance on the rating of a review. As I said before, read and rate a review on its own merits.
I am of the opinion that dooyoo is a site for a wide range of people from all walks of life to write review on their personal experiences of products. If I was going to buy a new product this is the kind of people I would want to get opinions form. I personally do not think the purpose of dooyoo is about how intelligent and articulate you are nor what your profession is and certainly not how good a writer you are. My opinion is simply, if you have experience of a product/service etc. that you wish to share then dooyoo is the place to so it. If someone wants to use dooyoo for fun, to enjoy writing or to earn extra cash then I don't see what the problem is. The reason people are writing on dooyoo I don't think should be the issue. For me, if you are writing about product that you have personally experienced and writing it to the best of your ability then what is the problem?
What reviews do you read and rate?
I personally think that if a member takes the time to read and rate a review you have written then it is courtesy to read and rate a review in return. I think all members should be both writing and reading and think the number of reviews you rate should be almost the same as the number of rating that your reviews have received. I also think its important to make time to read and rate reviews written by new members and reviews on new products.
I think Dooyoo is a great site and really enjoy using it. I do think however there is far too much politics involved in something that for me is very very simple. Read and Rate and if its constructive or sociable then comment
Thank You

mum2boys82 - 15/05/08 I try and read more than I write, but sometimes the number of people reading my reviews go up too quickly for me to chase, I don't specifically read reviews of those who have rated mine but cover a large cross section of reviews from various people in areas that interest me.
