Disadvantages: High prices, Low quality, Disreputable
Please dont rate this opinion badly because it appears to be slating Dooyoo - it isnt. The review is actually about DAC Logo, a german company which runs the ringtones and logo services that Dooyoo promotes on the site. I have nothing against Dooyoo, but I am against poor quality ringtones at over inflated prices. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DAC Logo (Data Audio Communications) is a German company that supplies Dooyoo with ringtones and logos. The top 10 ringtones on their site include Angel - Shaggy, Miss Carolina, and the theme from Discoteque. All of them have wrong notes in them, and they are hardly current tracks. Now if these ringtones were free of charge that would be OK because they certainly arent worth paying for, but it costs £1.50 a minute to order and there is no mention of how long the call will last! DAC Logo was recently featued in the ICSTIS newsletter (see http://www.icstis.org.uk/mn_83.htm#casesofsubstanc e) for allowing call costs over over £5 without seeking prior permission, and were fined £2,500. Being a German company they also do not have to pay the same royalties to the composers of the music as British companies do. I think it is important that composers get paid for their work whenever a ringtone is sold that is based on their music. There are too many websites these days offering poor quality ringtones and ripping off the public. DAC logo is in my opinion one of the worst. Try this: Listen to any of the ringtones on the DAC Logo website which Dooyoo link to. It is customised to show the Dooyoo logo, but is basically exactly the same content. Now go to www.ringtones2.com and listen to the same ringtone. Notice the difference? Believe it or not the cheaper of the two (Ringtones2) is the better quality! It is strange that Dooyoo is a website that claims to be on the consumers side, but when it comes to offering a paid for service themselves they
choose to offer one of such poor quality.

- 07/11/01 I think you are referring to Ringtones2.com |

- 04/10/01 As ever promoting your only operations... ringtone2.com wouldn't be part of the SMR group would it? Mike |

- 22/09/01 Its OK using the composer, but its more limited than the ringtones you can receive over the air. Just try to compose some of the really complex tunes from the Phat Tonez website yourself, it would take hours! |
