Advantages: free ringtones
Disadvantages: having to click on links to other sites
There are some great websites out there that offer ‘free’ ringtones for your phone. After a lot of clicking on red herrings this site is the only one that I have ever managed to get a free ringtone from. Sure you can get it sent to your phone by SMS and for this you have to pay the same as the other sites, but the thing that makes this one different is that it also gives you the notes so you can add it through your Nokia composer. Ah Ha! I hear you cry, this is not as easy as it sounds. Yes, I know, I don’t have a clue about the composer on my phone and you can find other sites that will do this for you. But this one is even easy enough for me! They have converted the tune into key presses (even I can manage ”press 2 then 8 twice followed by……”) and you can also listen to a preview before you start, just to make sure you like it. Some of the tunes are a bit suspect but hey, it’s free! Another useful feature is the e-converter, which will convert the "notes" from composer to key presses for you, so if you see something on another site you can convert it here. The only thing that bugs me is the way they make you click on a link before you can view the ringtone menu, but you can get around this by bookmarking the search page. There is a searchable database and you can view tunes by song name, artist or alphabetically. They have hundreds and hundreds. In addition to this there are a lot of free text message jokes (most of them pretty rude). You can get logos and picture messages sent to your phone, as usual not free, but average cost about £1, which is cheaper than some. They have a codes and secrets section (haven’t a clue about these things!), a forum and FAQ pages. Not a bad little site, even if all you want is a new tune for your phone.

winsoar - 15.08.01 The site promotes warez and is probably unlicensed so you might be breaking the law by using the music. The quality of the ringtones is also much poorer than those which can be sent over the air from websites such as ringtones2.com |
