Advantages: none really - the same as anywhere else

Disadvantages: Bad browser support, customer services, information on site

I've had a few problems with e*trade recently - first of all etrade.co.uk does not work under firefox or earlier versions of internet explorer - I'd thought their servers were down. I emailed them about it - no response. I phoned them and they said "oh yeah - we know about that". Thanks!

Then getting them to transfer money between accounts and all contact I've had with customer services has been difficult - I asked them to close the account three months ago, and after agreeing they carried on taking money out of my bank account. After a few phone calls they finally revealed I had to fill in a form to close the account - no word about whether they'll be refunding my money yet :-(

All in all I'd recommend going elsewhere

I had a similar if not worst problem dealing with E*Trade. I had some uninvested cash in an E*Trade account. I wanted this to be moved to an IRA CD account. I had to download a form, fill it, sign it and mail it. Two weeks after I mailed the document, my cash is still in the uninvested account. I called them and they said they had not received it yet.

Another two weeks have passed, several calls later and an email brought no response from the email and no concern from eTrade other than saying I should mail a new document. After a month when I told them I was going to pull out the cash, I got a call informing me that I could instead fax them the IRA transfer form. Why the fuck didn't they tell me this after I first reported the problem. I told them no way since I had already request another institution for a transfer of funds from eTrade. Guess, what? Two weeks after the new form for request had been mailed by my bank (not me), etrade tell my bank, they have not received the request. All mailing address have been verified to be correct. For this to happen twice makes me wonder if Etrade just want to hold on to my uninvested cash. It's 6 weeks now and I could've made some gains out of that money. It may take another month to get this all resolved.

I told them to go to hell. They blamed me for not certifying delivery of the mail if I wanted to make sure it get's to their offices. I'm pulling out all of my account from Etrade the moment I'm able to.

If you want to verify my case, this is the fellow who took my last call. He's an idiot! Quentin Bowler (678)319.7400 x 2234762

Shame on ETrade. There are just a lot of problems with ETrade. Hope this helps.

A lot more info is needed here, imagine you'd never heard of this site - what would you want to know? Sam (Internet Guide)

It would have been nice to find out more about how the site is intended to work and how user-friendly the site is.
