Advantages: cheap

Disadvantages: rotten service

I has an E*Trade(UK) account for six months in 1999.
Overall, I found the service *very* poor indeed - I'm
mystified that ETrade seems to do well in surveys of
online brokers.

Just some of my complaints are,

= Delays of up to 2 hours in executing orders.
= Intermittent error messages for no apparent reason.
= Written contract notes failing to turn up.
= Virtually non-existent customer service.

The E*trade site has a bulletin board area where
customers can post their complaints. There seem to be
a LOT of people with similar problems to mine
(unfortunately, you have to be a member in order to
read these messages - wise decision on etrade's part !).

My advise is, steer clear. I now use www.xest.com,
which has always provided an excellent service.
