Advantages: Saves you typing in loads of variations yourself, quick and easy to use.

Disadvantages: None really -it's a nifty little link

A couple of years ago when I was fairly new to Ebay, I actually purchased the link for this tool from someone on Ebay. OK, so it was only 99p, but I realise now that this tool is available from more or less anywhere. I bet I could have googled it and found it!

profitbooks.com/ebaymisspell.html is one of the links but there are loads of them around and they all do pretty much the same job.

All you need to do is go to this link first before logging into Ebay. Type in the box what you are looking for and by using this link it will take you straight to Ebay and bring up a list of items that have variations on the correct spelling that you would have missed if you had gone straight to Ebay and typed it in the search box as normal.

This is a great tool,as you can often pick up some real bargains, as these are the items that wouldn't normally get found when people are looking for things, unless the people searching can't spell very well either!

Say for example I was looking for a Volkswagen Beetle and typed "Beetle" into the box on the link, then it would bring up anything with a variation on that spelling, so "Beatle", "Beeetle", "Bettle", "Beetel" etc. You will be amazed at how some people spell things and they wonder why they don't sell their items. How will they sell them if no one looks at them. This search tool will find them for you. You also need to click on whether you want to seach Ebay.com or Ebay.co.uk. Some variations of the link have Ebay for different countries listed too.

I don't use it all the time, but it's no harder than going direct to Ebay, so I should use it more often really as bargains are definitely there for those who look.

Summary: A great time saver that you also save you money.

what a great idea! I often try searching misspellings but I didn't realise there was a tool to do this.

Good review, and I can see how it could be used find bargains. However, I usually use spelling as a guide to the legitimacy of the seller; it helps me determine whether or not they are English speaking and if they will be fluent enough for communication if necessary, and also some fake brands can be slightly misspelt; for example, knock-off Wedgwood is universally spelt 'Wedgewood'.
