Advantages: Bargain finder
Disadvantages: Nothing at all
There are several gadgets around now that help you to expose ebay auction bargains. This review is of e Boo Boos.
Ebay does not contain a spell checker and if you are like me you make mistakes when writing on a keyboard
(Thanks for all your comments!, It's not that I can't spell its just I can't type!).
The problem with this of course is that sellers enter the listing with small typos or spelling errors, but for buyers it could lead to a real bargain. If the items are incorrect then they will not be getting much interest, hence the price should be lower. e Boo Boos helps you to find these errors.
The site is fairly simplistic in design. Down the left hand side is a long list of example search words in various categories. In the centre of the page is a short description of what the site does. It is not an especially visualy appealing site, rather it is functional.
Next towards the cente is a rectangular box, yellow infill with a blue border, this is where you conduct the search. Within the box there is a horizontal list of ebay site versions, represented as countries flags, by selecting a flag you are choosing the ebay site you wish to search. Choose from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Spain, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, UK or US.
Next line down has four further boxes.
1st - Enter your search words: here you enter the words you wish to search spelt correctly - in this case I typed "motorola".
2nd - Now you can enter words to exclude from the search - in this case I kept it blank.
3rd - Next there is a pull down menu to toggle between sort by 'price' or 'time left' - I selected price here.
4th - Another pull down menu where you can select a specific category to search - in this case I selected 'cell phones '
Now just hit the 'search' button.
I am now offered a long list of around 30 ebay listings that e Boo Boos thinks are misspellings of the word 'motorola' in the 'cell phone' category for the UK ebay site. The list literally compiles in a second.
An example of a misspelt listing it found:
Motorolla RAZR V3 Mobile Phone - Pink £0.99 1 1d 11h 54m
After the list of misspelt items it continues on to provide a list of correctly spelt items.
Really this is so simple to use and a really handy tool for all you bargain hunters. There is no additional advertising on the site to clutter it up, I guess it is funded by the ebay referals it receives.
E Boo Boos is a free web based application available from:
