eBookers Horrible experience, well, wort I have ever had
Author Name: Alen M.
Disadvantages: Practically everything that could possibly go wrong
I booked a ticked for a friend to come over and visit in Spain from The States. The booking procedure on the eBookers website was perfectly normal, with the usual option to enter your details, passenger details, as well with an option "I am making this booking for another person".
After all the details were entered and sorted, and the payment carried out, an email was sent to me with the itinerary and flight details.
I was quite stunned to see my name listed as a passenger, with my friend's date of birth. As it was Sunday, I logged back in to the site and found the option to change the name (my friends data were already in their system).
However, this did not work and after several attempts I decided to wait and call them this morning.
Many very nervous staff were switching me back and forth from one department to the other and I started to get a feeling something was very wrong. Suddenly they claimed that the name can not be changed (their system changed it!) and that I should make another booking. I was very uncomfortable with this, as they could not tell me what would happen to the original ticket. I was told that "an investigation" will be carried out (by them off course) and they will let me know within 48 hours. Throughout the 35+ minutes call (Spain to London) they were trying to persuade me to make another booking. After this, I went to the "support chat" on their website (transcript available) where they again tried to make me book another ticket. After trying to get some information for ages, I was told that the ticket I booked was not refundable, and I might be eligible for a refund on part of tax -45£ - this on an 800£ ticket! Now already fully panicked and called American Express to try to cancel any charge. The case is now under review by them, and I really want to see what the eBookers investigation will show! Also, according to the TSA rules, the ticket itself is useless, as it has my name, but my friend's date of birth and other data. I cannot believe that they have such a faulty system, and they are actually trying to pass the cost of their error to me! Absolutely worst, abusive experience I have ever had with any booking in my entire life. If I am really going to be out of pocket for 800£ for their error, I will make sure to post my story on every review site, along with the full transcript of their "support", just so nobody (or at least less people) would have to go through this.
Summary: Never again, the worst experience and plain robbery
