As this is restricted to recipients in America and as there are only two goes, I suggest you opt for the latter option. eFax looks bright, perky and tempting on the surface. I was reasonably impressed with their website. It is very easy to navigate and is cross-platform friendly. WebTV users may be pleased to note there is a special section tailored just for them. High-end PC and mac users will be happy enough. I even found passing nods to Linux and Windows 3.1 although this may have been a mirage as these OS are not really catered for in the downloads section. FREE SERVICES The sign up process for eFax Free is both simple and quick. You will receive a local call rate US or UK fax number, assigned at random, which will divert faxes to your email account. eFax.com is definately the best free fax to e-mail service around today. I presently have two free fax numbers with them. One is a USA fax number and one is a UK fax number. Since I do business with some companies in the States it works out cheaper for them to send me faxes on a local USA fax number. They are incredibly fast. Just to test it out I sent a fax to my own number and checked my e-mail after just 30 seconds and presto it was in my Inbox. It's really easy to download the viewer from their site. Another plus point is that you can send this fax as an e-mail to others or save as a file just at the click of a button. ... Read the complete review

I signed up for my efax account last year after seeing an advert in a newspaper. this is how it works: You sign up and download a program. They then issue you with a 0870 number which anyone can use. The EFax company take the fax electonically and divert it to your email address. You then use the free software to view the fax. The best part is that its all free! There are of course more that the cost effectiveness that wins me: becasue you are viewing it directly onto your computer screen there is no paper to worry about (don't you just hate thermal rolls?) - no worrying about them running out in the middle of that all important fax. There are no paper jams. ... Read the complete review

I signed up for a free Efax number after seeing an advert in a computer magazine. At that time I had only just started using the Internet, I was unsure of it but I thought, "why not?". I signed up and I'm very impressed! In the free account version, you get your own national rate fax number which can be faxed from any normal fax machine, the fax is converted to a special .efx format and sent to your email. All you have to do then is download the fax and view it free with the efax software which is available free from the website! The faxes are good quality and can be zoomed in on, printed and saved on your harddrive. The service is perfect if you dont ... Read the complete review

eFax.com is a website that will provide you with a free fax number, which can also be used for voicemail if you so desire. You can also upgrade to a paid service which offers more features. You are given an 0870 (national rate) number. When someone sends a fax to this number the eFax system converts it to a file in their own .efx format and sends it to you as an email attachment. You then open it using the free software they provide you with. It is then possible to print it so it appears just like a normal fax. The voicemail is less useful, because callers are only allowed a short message, and they hear a tedious 'eFax' advert in an irritating ... Read the complete review
