Advantages: se family and friends lives as they happen

Disadvantages: poeple can send stupid piontless things

Facebook is a social networking system on the internet for anyone to use. It is designed to keep people in touch and create social communities on the internet. I have been a member for around 6 months now and really enjoy seeing snips of people's lives that I wouldn't have done with out it. Some of these people that you make "friends" with are people from school or work or even previous jobs and so you can catch up on missed years or even find a long lost friend.

Not only are their people to make contact with but also groups to join and causes to support too. Many charities's have a page on facebook and being a "friend" with them show's support for them and just shear volume of numbers to prove they are just in their mission. I am a member of yummy mummies which is a group of women in Sheffield that pass on info to each other and give advice, also it's a source to find information as shops and free lance business people have pages too.

Until recently (facebook had a face lift) their was a problem with people sending inappropriate images on things like funspece (a section were you can post videos and images that are funny or sweet) this was not very nice as anyone could send it to you if you were in their friend list, you can delete things but they should never be allowed in the first place. Thankfully this has changed and I have had no problems since.
So in simple words if you like to see family and friends, take quizzes or tell jokes this is the site for you. It's free and fairly simple to use.
