I have to say that for a long time I wasn't bothered about facebook, I thought it was a stupid idea and wouldnt open an account.

Last summer I finally opened accound after being bugged by a friend and I havent looked back. It is a great idea to keep friends and family in touch every day. It is also a dead easy way to share photographs from a wedding, holiday or night out.

You can also tell people what you're up to, send messages, search for friends and use your calendar to never forget birthdays!

I think used correctly it can be great but I do understand peoples concerns. I dont think I would have liked this when I was at school. Kids seem to be on it all the time and I think there is massive potential for online bullying - something that just wasnt applicable when I was a kid.

I think facebook do a great job of regulating their site but I think parents need to be more aware of what their children are doing.

Overall I think this is a great site for all ages and a fab concept but very open to abuse.

Summary: as an adult give it a go
