Facebook is a social networking site, When Facebook was first started in February 2004 its population was mainly made up of university students, but now it has expanded and used by a variety of different people of all ages, across many different countries. Facebook is now part of most peoples lives, most members finding it hard to go a day without logging on to see if they have any notifications or inbox messages.

Through the creation of Facebook, there have also been terms created such as 'facebook me', meaning to get in touch with someone on Facebook. Or 'Facebook perv', meaning to gain information by looking on many different peoples walls.

Facebook is not just about communicating with peers, there are many applications used for fun such as quizzes and games, the latter can be played with as many other Facebook members as you can convince to join you. Many people would feel at a loss without Facebook in their lives anymore.
