Facebook - Why didn't they keep it simple! (facebook.com)

Advantages: All your friends will be on it

Disadvantages: Can be very frustrating.

I must be one of the only people that doesn't really "get" Facebook all that much.

For those who don't know by now Facebook is a social network site that allows users to create a profile of themselves and to add their friends so that they can keep track of their daily doings and how they are feeling.

I personally find that this can be rather annoying at times, especially with status updates by people who obviously have nothing better to do in their lives than tell other people that they are "bored lolz x". I do find some of the applications on Facebook to be entertaining and can while away some time but it seems to me that sometimes people just spend all day on them! The most recent appears to be "Farmville" where people create their own virtual farm.

It seems to me that sometimes Facebook is trying to be something that it was not originally, instead of keeping it simple as a place where you could see what occasionally people were up to, to get details of an event you are attending, or to upload some of your latest snaps. Facebook has become a baron wasteland of pointless status updates and a deluge of invites to applications that I simply could not care less about.

I suppose it can be useful at times but it seems almost that Facebook has forgotten what it once was and is now just trying to be everything that people expect it to be.

Summary: I'm only on it because some friends who i need to stay in contact with are on it!
