Advantages: keeps me in touch with friends, endless things to do and play on there

Disadvantages: too many glitches and error messages, games that want you to add lots of people just so you can play

I've been a member of facebook for some years now but admittedly when i first joined i never really 'got it' so never really bothered going on there. For about the past year though i've been totally addicted and now have about 700 friends on there, admittedly i only know a handful of them but the rest are there for the games that insist on you adding people to be able to play the games but more on that later.

Setting up a facebook account is pretty easy and only takes a couple of mins, in fact i added a new one for my daughter just last night. once joined you get the option of adding your friends from msn but i preefer to just search for the people i'm looking for.

facebook is a really easy way of keeping up with your friends and chatting instead of having to phone all the time, especially in this day and age when most people only use mobiles and that just eats through your credit, lol.

so what can you do on facebook?? Well first off like i already said, it's a good way of keeping up to date with your friends but you can also find groups that interest you and join them where there will be a message board where everyone in the group can write and share stuff.

There are endless quizzes on there which kill the boredom for about 30 seconds each although if you're as competative as me you'll take some of the quizzes just so you can prove to your friends that you're better (or not) than them.

Then there's the games. There are tons of games to play but they can get a bit annoying when you have to add people to your facebook just to be able to play them. I know some people who only like to add their real friends so in effect they are being peanilised from playing the game just because they don't want to add 100's off strangers. Take mafia wars for instance. After setting up my daughter account last night i thought i'd start mafia on her account but after playing for just few mins i couldn't get any further without having more friends. or treasure mania where you need a certain amount of people to be able to dig.

So if you can ignore the fact that facebook is full of glitches and half the time your games refuse to work then give it a try, it's like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I know people that absolutely refuse to go on there but then there's others like me that spend most of their internet time on there. I just look forward to the day when facebook gets it's act together to sort out it's glitches and lets us use the site for what it's meant to be used for without me wanting to throw my laptop out of the window ever 5 minutes.

Summary: i'm giving it the thumbs up even after the disadvantages
