Advantages: Very simple but powerful social networking site

Disadvantages: Overcrowdingon the site leads to the site occasionally becoming slow

Facebook, to many, including myself, plays a central role in many peoples everyday life. Facebook with its many many simple but fun applications and simple design is a hit and arguably the most popular online networking site in the world. Superior to its competitors Twitter, Bebo and MySpace Facebook lets people play games, share applications, photos and communicate freely with eachother from anywhere in the world. It is a great way to keep in touch with far distant relatives or also to rediscover long lost relatives and childhood friends. The ease in which you can navigate throughout the site with its basic yet welcoming design makes it very user friendly and accessible for all ages to use. Although facebook has come under some scrutiny for how easily paedophiles can use false identity and access facebook this is combated with very good personal restrictions which can be applied on ones own profile page to prevent such going ons. You have the ability to block anybody and only those who you consent can view your page. All in all facebook remains at the top of the pile as the top social networking site ruling the roost as it has for a while and shall no doubt do so for a long long time.

Summary: A very useful and much used website

Surely there is more to this "phenomenon" than the scant 200 words here. As a bit of a novice on (anti)social notworking sites, I could have done with an outline of how to get the best from Facebook, along with your opinion on it, rather than a simple outline of the fact that it exists (which even I knew!)
