Facebook is without doubt a great tool for connecting with old friends, creating events and photo blogging. Social connection is very strong, with many ways to talk to your friends from the IM client, status' and wall posts.

Since facebook has arrived on the scene it has grown from a small experiment to being used by 300 million people. However, with this volume of traffic, it is no wonder the web site has the problems it does. I have three big qualms about the websites functionality; its unpredictability, reliability and notification system.

1) Photo uploading and video uploading is a mine field. For no reason sometimes, uploading photos just does not work. This is particularly annoying when youre doing this in great quantities, as it doesn't tell you until the photos should be uploaded, so can take several minutes.

2) Many times, when clicking on the home page, you get nothing, just the tab bar. You have to refresh several times to get something on your homescreen. This is poor, and as far as I can tell, quite a widespread problem, let's just hope its a current bug.

3) You end up getting dozens of notifications asking you to play on applications your friends have played which gets very annoying.

However, when it works, its very good. It can do everything right, but just seems quite buggy these days. It's also pretty addictive, so is best used in moderation.

Summary: Potentially great if they can iron the bugs out.
