Should social networking sites be banned? (facebook.com)

Disadvantages: Complicated and difficult to use, boring and dull page layout, can be full of weirdos

I have been a member of Bebo for about two or three years and ended up conforming to peer pressure and joined Facebook about six months ago.

The main reason i joined the site was because a lot of my friends wanted me too and kept asking me.

If you have never heard of Facebook, it is a social networking site where you can keep in touch with friends and family and make new friends.

The site is free to use and every user has their own profile page that they can have a list of friends on.

People can also leave comments on your page and comment on your photographs. There are applications that users can use like games. Facebook seems to be used by an older group of people who are in their twenties and thirtys.

I personally think that Facebook is a bit rubbish to be honest. The profile pages are plain and boring and you cannot add colourful skins like you can on Bebo.

I also find it very difficult to use and a layout a bit difficult to come to terms with.

I dont like the fact that there seems to more bad things happening in the world as a result of Facebook. More young girls seem to be going missing and meeting up with strange weirdos they have met on Facebook.

I read only yesterday that an 11 year old girl has gone missing and the police have found worrying messages on Facebook.

It really upsets me reading things like that and makes me wonder if social networking sites should be banned before they do any more damage!

Im sure most of you have read of the paedophile ring that was formed on Facebook and resulted in indecent pictures being sent from a childs nursery, it makes me sick!

Im not blaming just Facebook as there is also bad things have happened as a result of Bebo too.

Apart from this though, i have found Facebook difficult to use, the applications are childish and boring and i have ended up cancelling my account about three times as i dont think it is of very much use to me. I know some people love Facebook but its not for me.
