Advantages: Frequently hilarious, regularly updated
Disadvantages: some clips/pics can be a bit mundane
For anyone who isnt familiar with the internet meme 'FAIL', the phrase is basically applied to anyone or anything that is pathetic, misjudged, or just simply fails miserably at its purpose, with resultingly comic effects. Failblog.org is a huge archive of pictures that manage to amuse through the power of Fail, including newspaper cuttings, photos, tv stills and internet screenshots and also video clips.
A couple of my recent favourites include:
A pair of PREDATOR gloves that are designed for children and are unfortunately branded as CHILD PREDATOR gloves (packaging fail)
A forum post someone left asking how they can turn their computer monitor into a mirror, complaining that scanning a mirror just doesnt work (basic science fail)
A letter someone wrote into a local newspaper that reads "To all you hunters who kill animals for food, shame on you; you ought to go to the store and buy the meat that was made there, where no animals were harmed."
A picture of some graffiti with pentagrams and the legend "HAIL SATIN!" (satanism fail)
An advert for a photography company whose slogan is "we shoot people and pets"
A forum post left by some American guy living in Georgia US saying that he had heard on the news that the Russians were invading Georgia but that he couldn't see or hear any tanks anywhere and should he be worried?
Anyway you get the general idea... Its essentially visual humour so you really need to see the pictures to get the full effect. The video clips include the usual people-making-inadvised-leaps-and making-complete-tits-out-of-themselves stuff, as well as tv hosts losing their minds, pathetic tv adverts and so on.
The site is updated several times a day and you can subscribe to have new submissions sent directly to your inbox if you like. Sometimes the pics/vids are mundane but there are frequently some real gems too, and theres something incredibly satisying and endearing about the various failures on offer that never fails to cheer me up.
Summary: A great comedy site that frequently suprises
