Advantages: free

Disadvantages: too many know about it

This is a site that i stumbled across recently. I have heard that you could search e-bay and other auction style sites for items that have been spelt wrongly, and therefore get them cheap, as no-one can find them.
The main place where you will see these sites, are on e-bay itself where people are trying to sell them to you. This is not necessary, as fatfingers.co.uk is a free to use site that does just that.

No registration required, it is simply a page with a search engine on it, in which you enter the correct spelling of what you are looking for.

Next you choose the site you wish to search, the main of which are all the e-bay sites, and qxl. The search engine then searches the site for all the possible incorrect spellings of the words you have entered, and displays them for you.

Next you browse through the findings, and see what bargains there are for you!!

Sounds great doesn't it? In principle it is a great idea, but in practice i think that it is very different. Searching for hours one night i soon realised that too many people have already got onto this. These misspelt items were going for the same price as the normal ones. Certainly, being free to use, it is worth a look. Perhaps you will have better luck than i did, but in truth it is time consuming, and it soon becomes apparent that you will never get something for nothing. Not in this life!!

If you are going to try this method, please do not just search and bid on things that perhaps you would not have bought anyway. Only use on the off chance that a product that you really want is amongst those listed. You can soon find that you become deperate to find something cheap, and end up with a load of junk!! You also seem to get a lot of items shipped from hong kong, on which the p&p makes up for any drop in price anyway.

The versions of this that are for sale on e-bay are no different, and, as with so many things like this, they are scams. You will not get things at rediculous prices, nor will you become rich using this method of buying! It sickens me when i see rip off merchants taking advantage of the innocent. Do not give them the satisfaction. So if you do want to give this a go one night that you are randomly searching the auction sites, go to fatfingers.co.uk. Wont cost you a penny, but wont work either. At least though we are sure that conmen are not profitting out of it. Thanks for your time. G

Summary: free version of a scam, avoid.
