Dooyoo is an excellent site and it runs pretty well. Over the last few months, there has been a great boom in the popularity of the site as new members have been attracted through promotions such as the 'My Invitations' one. I believe that a good review is short but informative and concise. The quality of reviews nowadays has decreased compared to what the average review used to be like. I think there are a few ways to help improve the quality and motivate people to write better reviews on behalf of the community.

Currently, you earn the equivalent of 50p for a review over 150 words. This means that someone writing a 150 word review gets the 50p as does someone writing a 2000 word review, which is much more informative, detailed and useful. Perhaps there may be a new system to sort this out such as the base pay being judged on ratings by other members.

The crowns in place are a good way to entice people to write better reviews to be rewarded. However, I think the crown system could be improved to slowly bring the quality of reviews back up to what it used to be. You could hand out bronze, silver and gold crowns (and maybe platinum). Members would be able to nominate for any of the bronze, silver or gold crowns and guides would be able to nominate for a platinum crown if they feel it is of superiority. They would be worth:

Bronze: 500 dooyoo miles
Silver: 1000 dooyoo miles
Gold: 1500 dooyoo miles
Platinum: 2000 dooyoo miles

There could be a guide on the site to what makes a good review to help members improve their reviews. The guide could also include ingredients that would be worthy for each of the above crowns.

The system already underwent changes when a base pay for a review was introduced. A long time ago, you used to only get 3p from other members rating so you relied on them. The new base pay for a 150 word review has enticed more and more people to write literally 150 words to get the 50p benefit. There must be a way of sorting this out even if the staff are looking for quantity rather than quality.
