As a webmaster I can say that Flash is easy to use. You can do great animations, great looking pages. Using Html editors like Dreamweaver let you build good website fast, but you'll never reach the design skill that flash does. But the question is...what's the goal of a website? Having had experiences with both of these ways of creating a webpage, I feel I am in a good position to express my views.... Flash in my opinion is something that is incredibly useful, but unless you are a total expert, should be used very carefully. Great for site intros, small logos, animated graphics and things like that, but try and build an entire webpage and you find yourself struggling. For a start, deciding how big to make a page, many people have different screen resolutions so it is impossible to have one size that is guarunteed to work for all your visitors. Flash is a brilliant tool that takes web design and web-pages as seen by the user (customer) to a whole new dimension. While customers to a commercial website maybe very impressed by the flash based ... Read the complete review

As a web site designer, I get asked all the time whether or not Flash has a place on the internet and whether it is better or worse than HTML. It is neither, and that is it's beauty. Flash by itself is a very useful tool, and can be used to create spectacular effects and web sites (www.themummy.com is a fine example), as well as stand-alone web movies (www.stardudes.com has flash re-creations of the Star Wars saga - well worth a look). However it's real strength lies in it's ability to add interactivity and effects to regular websites, and with more speed than JavaScript and the dreaded Java Applets. Flash is best used in ... The other day I was actually on the internet for a purpose, I really needed to find out what was on Play UK as its not in our TV guide (okay so hardly the most important enquiry I could of made but TV schedules are without a doubt a vital part of modern society). For this nugget of information I went to my usual TV listing site which unhelpfully informed me that there was 'no schedule available for this channel', so this led me to my second port of call the Play UK website. Now this is fully Flashed meaning that I had to wait and wait and wait, go in search of food and drink, then finally come back to find that a couple of elements were actually half working but ...
