Advantages: Highest payouts, easy to use, lightnight quick

Disadvantages: None

I must start this review with a big thank you to Caroline (carcraig) and Becci (Chugglebunny). It was having read their very fine reviews that prompted me to try the services of ww.fonebank.com.

I, like many people, have a drawer full of old phones, chargers and various other phone related paraphernalia. With every 12 month contract renewal comes a new mobile phone and the statement that I will hang on to the old phone....just in case...sound familiar? Well after learning about fonebank I decided to give them a try and reclaim that phone drawer for myself.

What is it?

Fonebank is a website that buys your phones from you. Simple as that. Depending on what phone you have and whether it is working or not, Fonebank will by you by cheque for sending in your phones. Now before you go rushing to cash in those brick of a phones that belong in the British Museum, Fonebank has a comprehensive list of what phones they want and what they will pay and anything pre-camera phone is not wanted.

How it works

The website is simple to use. You search the phone(s) you wish to trade in, find out how much they will pay and if you wish to trade the phone(s) in you register with the site which takes about 2 mins, after which you are given an order number and freepost address to send the phones too. I then received an email confirmation that my order has been logged almost immediately. And a further email to say that the phones have arrived and a cheque would be sent out that day. The very next day, a cheque arrived paying the full amount for the phones as promised, no fuss and no hassle.
For those with 15 or more phones, a free collection can be arranged and there is a telephone number (0207 404 6440) to arrange this or just to check up on any order being processed although the lightning fast service provided means that wasn't necessary.
Once registered, your details are stored, making it easier to trade in more phones.
For a phone to be classified as working and thus commanding more money, it has to turn on. If the phone does not work then they still pay but on average only £10 per phone...still not bad for something that doesn't work!

Why use Fonebank?

I researched and compared prices with Fonebanks leading competitor - envirofone and Fonebank came out paying more than 10% more than Envirofone. The excellent service described in the aforementioned reviews was again excellent. Fantastic with communications, payment was as described and lightning fast and the whole experience with Fonebank has been a pleasurable and profitable one. Completely painless process, I received £96 for two quite old and scratched phones within 3 days of registering with the website. Although they only want the phones and not the accessories and i still have a drawer full of chargers, i simply cannot reccommend the site enough and it is fantastically easy to use i will in doubt be using them again in the future. Oh if you register before Oct 31st there is a £1000 prize money given randomly to new users.... Finally... go check this site out....declutter those drawers and put a pounds in your pocket...thanks Caroline and Becci..... im £96 richer becuase of you :)

Summary: Fonebank...... money for old phones.

Hmmm my bf used these a couple of weeks ago, using the freepost address, and they never recieved the phone! He's lost the proof of postage as well, so out of pocket now.

It's always worth going through ALL the phone recycling websites like this (as shown on the MSE site) as even if it's giving more for one phone, it doesn't mean it will give more for all phones.

Also I use cashabck sites for extra money on them. x
