Advantages: Money for old stuff you don't use anyway
Disadvantages: -
When lots of people get new phones they either give their old one to someone else, keep it as a spare, or put it in a draw and forget about it. If you are the latter then you could be sitting on a nice little windfall!
Fonebank.com is a site that buys your old phones from you and gives you money in return. You simply send them a working phone (no need for any accessories or chargers, just a working battery) they check it's working and then send you out a cheque that day.
If you go to the fonebank website you can enter the make and model of your phone and the site tells you how much it is worth instantly. If you like the soud of how much they're offering you fill in your details, print off a sheet with your order number, pop your phone in a jiffy envelope and sent it to them. They give you an address you can send recorded delivery packages to or there is even an option to send to a freepost address. I can used the freepost address as my phone was only worth £16 (still a decent amount) and it got there fine, so my gamble paid off.
My cheque arrived less than 5 days later so the whole process was extremely quick. I was sent email updates once they received my phone, and when they sent out the cheque so I was kept up to date the whole way.
Before using fonebank I did a little research and other sites didn't offer quite as much money for my phone, so fonebank was the most lucrative. Depending on your phone model you might want to shop around, but I can vouch for the excellent service I received from fonebank. Highly recommended!
Summary: Site that pays you to recycle your phone

- 13/04/09 Wow that is speedy service! I reviewed Mopay and thought they were good, but fonebank sounds much quicker and they send you email updates which is a bonus! Will keep them in mind for next time! |
