Advantages: Talking point, Moist meat
Disadvantages: Need a kettle barbecue
Beer can chicken of course!!!!! Want to impress your guests at your next barbie with something unusual? Well, this is the site to find that perfect recipe. The only drawback is you will need a kettle barbecue. Ufortunately I can't try it myself as we haven't got the appropriate barbecue :( Please though, if any of you try it, come back and let me know what it was like. Basically you need 3 things, your chicken a can of beer and some of your favourite spices. 1. Remove the giblets etc from the chicken and rub the outside with your favourite spices (it does say smoking rub on the site but I don't think there is a lot of that about in the Uk - unless someone can otherwise supply the address of a supplier over here). 2. Rub the inside with the same and add dried onion flakes and garlic. 3. Open a can of beer and drink two thirds of it. 4. Place the chicken (parsons nose end) down onto the can of lager, leaving two inches or so sticking out of the bottom. 5. Place chicken standing up like this in your barbecue and follow your usual procedure for smoking a chicken. Now, as I said, I don't have a kettle barbecue but if you are going to use this recipe then you obviously have and will probably already know how to smoke things in it. This cooks a succulent chicken because the beer slowly steams up and adds moisture to the bird. You have to be careful when you turn the chicken over as there may still be a little beer in the can. Take a look at the photos using the following link and get ready to start licking your lips! The site address is http://www.whitington.com/unclebubba/wing/beercan/ index.htm Happy eating :)
