Advantages: Being able to pass on your items without leaving the house
Disadvantages: Some freecyclers do not turn up to receive goods
When I first came across Freecycle my initial thought was - what a great idea!
Have you ever thought as you are filling your car up with your unwanted junk that you are taking to the tip - this stuff is actually too good to throw away but I can't be bothered to sell it? - because I know I have!
There are freecycle groups all over the country and you are able to sign up to the ones that are closest to you. My local one is only tiny with about 50 members so I have subscribed to the surrounding areas too to make sure my goodies are offered to whoever is willing to collect.
You are sent emails daily and this includes both wanted and offered ads. You do have to be quick though as by the time you have received the email most of the items have already been offered so it is best to log onto the website.
During my time on freecycle I have given away a perfectly good washing machine, fridge and freezer, dining table, mobile phones, games, clothes and much more.
Sometimes you do come across some quite rude people but the majority are polite and thankful to be receiving goods that they would have had to pay for and possibly could not afford.
The moderators can be a little strict so be sure that your listing follows the suggested format and you will be fine.
Summary: A great idea giving your items a second chance
