Advantages: If you're lucky you might find some old friends
Disadvantages: Finding former acquaintances is extremely difficult
I have very mixed views on Friends Reunited
Firstly, despite being a member for probably 8 years apart from reuniting myself with my partner Sue I have never actually been contacted by anyone from my school, college or polytechnic/university. Guess that tells me something!?
When I first joined, e-mails to other members were nigh on impossible and whatever you wanted to do it came with a price. That to an extent still happens, but the emphasis seem to be moved to their dating service.
There are a number of members from my old school and college that I remember, but none of the friends that I was hoping to see. Sure I remember many of the names, and what happened years ago, but they come up with some remarkable stories that make me wonder if they were really the people I knew or whether they just made it up to give them something to say on the site instead of being bored as hell.
So where are the friends and acquaintances, I guess I'll never know for certain, but I think a lot of them either have better things to do, or were members and found the service lacking.
However, you see it, I can't complain as it's how I found my former girlfriend (now my partner) after 20 years - but how as she never went to my school, college or university, so how did it happen?
Summary: You may be lucky to find an old friend, but don't rely on it

- 30/06/09 completely agree, i signed up to it, then as ny profile said i was single (at the time i was) I was inundated with emails for friends reunited dating matches, most people communicate through other more flexinle social networking sites. Try giving them a go if you havent already! |
