Advantages: Easy to search and navigate
Disadvantages: Over priced games, not the quickest delivery
Game.co.uk is the online internet site that is operated by the Game store to sell games online. The store is very much similar to companies stores.
The main homepage of the site gives the very latest offers and pre orders available games, games that are more likely to generate more income for the company. Along with these offers on the homepage, on the side of the screen is a list of areas that can be found on the site, an index, to areas such as each different computer console. Along the top of the screen is the ability to log into your user account.
When you click on the index on the side, you are taken to a sub home page for each console, such as the PS3 and Xbox 360. From there you have the ability to search console bundles, games or accessories. It is easy to search through the menu system to search for a particular item, such as a genre of game, but it is more difficult to use the menu system if you are looking for a particular game.
Therefore it is easier to use the search system, this can be found at the top of the screen and it will usually bring up the game that you want. Although on occasions I have found that I have had to look through a number of pages of search results to find the actual game or product I was looking for.
When you search for games, you are given basic information about the game, with possible of a review of the game. One thing that I do not like about the site is the lack of user input and reviews about the game. On rivals sites such as Amazon.co.uk and Play.com, users give their own opinion on the game and while they may not always be the most useful, they are at least a start.
In terms of ordering on line, the system is a standard online ordering service that does not take too long to go through. Although in terms of delivery I have noticed that it does take longer than other sites such as Amazon, normal about a day or two slower.
There have been a couple of new features on the site, such as the ability to download certain games from the site and the ability to rent certain games, but so far I have not used this service.
Another feature is the ability to purchase pre owned games from the site, just as you would from a physical shop. I would have problems with using this service, as you have no idea about the condition of the medium that the game is on. As when you purchase the game while you are in one of Game's store you have the ability to inspect the condition of the game before you purchase it.
One final problem that I still have with the site is the cost of games, which are the same price that you would pay within a store. I find this weird as it has been shown that it costs a business less to sell products online, and the only explanation is that Game want to ring as much profit out of you as possible. I am surprised that many people actually use the site as it is so more expensive that other online sites.
Overall I would not recommend Game.co.uk as the game on the site are overpriced and the delivery of the games are not the quickest, so I would recommend another sites such as Play.com or Amazon.
Summary: Would not recommend
