Update: SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG
since my last review of game.co.uk a month ago (Give or take) it has become apparent that although game have begun to return to their normal behavior of good games, good prices and a good customer service, there are still a few problems with there new site for example they have fixed all apparent and major glitches but at this time there customer services are still behind on emails and catching up with phone calls and there are still a few glitches with there site such as sometimes a game is advertised at one price and you get charged more or the product is in stock then you go to buy it and its out of stock etc.
as of yet i have still not received my money back from the game for the transaction that i didn't do and talks with customer services have lead to nothing but a small sorry and £5 refund which considering they took a lot more from my account doesn't relate to much (Think i may be going to contact my bank again so that they can put me through to the void transaction people).
overall although i have yet to receive my money it was a trying time for game and so i cant blame them to much for the system failure that they had. to that end I have changed the star rating to 3 saying yes it is safe to shop with them again but they still need to fix some mistakes that they shouldn't have had in the first place maybe next time they will think twice before fixing something that didn't need fixing.
I see that no one has done a review on GAME.co.uk since their website update in late august so i will do one for it as it stands now and will update it in a month to see how they have recovered from this disaster that they have gotten themselves into.
I'l start from the beginning, around the 25th of august Game .co.uk updated their website to offer more community based tools and to change the look of the 2010 site. this eneded in a disaster on the first day of release when no one could get onto the site. this was quickly fixed and another disaster accured when no one could log onto their accounts (also fairly quickly resolved) just before the next disaster when only a few people could see the site the way that game intended it to look everyone else could only see huge text and the pre-orders were not showing up in the order tracker this took a long time and is only partially resolved now (10-09-11), in order to fix this they made it so that no one could cancel their orders, or amend them. this was also a disaster as many people did not get their copies of driver 2, or deus Ex on time and now the Dead Island game that came out yesterday (09-09-11) which many have still not received.
It has also come to my attention today when i got my bank statement through that on the 27th of august £39.99 was taken out of my account by game even though i hadn't ordered anything for that price since last november. (I gather that this happened due to me changing my card details on the same day that the money was taken out.
since this all happened games customer services have been poor (fair enough with all the emails and phone calls coming in) but when you have paid to be on hold for 4 hours you dont want an answer of we will phone you back when we can or you'r pre-order is on the way, and then two hours later getting an email saying that you'r order has been canceled.
My advice to anyone either new to GAME.co.uk or old DONT BUY FROM THEM for at least the next month. give them a chance to fix the bugs with their website and customer service that way you can buy with confidence that you'r pre-order or any order will get to you with more efficiency than what game are offering at the moment and if something does go wrong you will not have to wait weeks for a reply.
although i dont mind the new websites layout i did prefer the older one and to be honest game shouldnt have tried to fix something that wasnt broke.
please see this as my opinion and a WARNING
No i wouldnt recommend at this point in time
