Advantages: Regular surveys, interesting topics, easy to redeem points
Disadvantages: Ineligible for some of the surveys you are sent
I have been doing online surveys at gb.lightspeedpanel.com for about a year now. I hadn't done any online surveys before, so I was a bit unsure about whether I would get enough surveys to be worthwhile, or whether they would even pay out any money. Fortunately, with Lightspeed, the answer was yes to both.
The signup process is easy, you just need to fill in a few details and then you get survey links emailed to you every few days. The downside is that because you fill in so little personal information, you don't actually qualify for a lot of the surveys that you get invited to. My biggest bugbear is that sometimes I spend 5 minutes filling in details in a survey, only to then be told that either I am ineligible or they have enough participants already. I feel that Lightspeed are not as good as some other survey sites in this respect - other sites either have a proper screening process which is filled in once in advance, or you get given points depending how far through the survey you get. Lightspeed does give you entries into a prize draw, but I think the chances of winning this are very small. There is a page of "recent winners" but it doesn't actually tell you how long ago they won anything.
The surveys I have done have been interesting and varied, from asking about my eating habits to getting my opinion on TV adverts. They range from about 10 minutes to half an hour. Many of the surveys have pictures and sound, so you will need to have Flash installed and have speakers to take full advantage of all the surveys offered to you. I have encountered the occasional technical problem, such as a survey coming up with errors part way through, but this hasn't happened often. One downside is that if you have started a survey, you have to finish it in one go because you can't re-access any surveys.
You get points for each survey you complete - surveys start at around 110 points, which is just enough for the cheapest reward - a song download at 99 points. My favourite reward is cash through paypal - £1 is 115 points. You can also get various other vouchers like HMV or Amazon or donate money to charity, and there are some other gifts available like computer accessories and magazine subscriptions. It is easy to redeem your points, just click the button on your points account page. I like this system better than other survey sites because you don't have to earn many points before you can redeem them.
The website is quite easy to navigate - all of the surveys currently available to you are listed on your members page, and there are links at the side to update your profile and check your points balance.
Lightspeed also offers mini-polls, which you don't get any points for, but are just for fun, plus Quick Matches, which are short surveys which just earn you prize draw entries.
I would recommend Lightspeed to anyone who enjoys doing online surveys - you are never going to get rich from it, but it's quite fun and you will earn a voucher or some money quite often.
Summary: I would recommend this survey site if you enjoy internet surveys.
