Advantages: Instant points and a huge prize catalogue

Disadvantages: Sometimes the points don't appear - terrible customer service.

I have been a member of the Lightspeed Consumer Panel since around April 2008. In that time I've gained:
£5 HMV e-voucher
£5 Boots paper voucher
£22 of money into PayPal.

So what is Lightspeed?
Lightspeed is one of many websites on the Internet where you can join, and fill out surveys for points, which can then be turned into everything from money and vouchers. After joining up you fill in some surveys about yourself, then you wait for them to come to your inbox! I don't usually get too many, maybe 2-3 a month, and you don't always qualify to take part in the survey. But when you do and you complete it, your points are instantly credited to your account. This alone is rare for a survey website as many will make you wait for points to be credited.

Aside from surveys, Lightspeed also do 'mini-polls' which are exactly as it says on the tin. You don't get points for these but you gain entries into the prize draw. There is also a 'quick match' section, occasionally a short survey pops up here, usually a couple of questions, and depending on those answers you may recieve an invite to a main survey later.

These days you can expect to earn 80 points from a 20-30 minute survey, this used to be about 110 so it's a shame it's gone down. To give you an idea of the points value, £5 PayPal money is 575 points, or a £5 e-voucher is 550 points.

There is a whole seperate 'prize catalogue' on the panel website and you can browse the many things you can exchange your points for. Delivery doesn't take too long, a few days usually for PayPal money (which is paid straight into your PayPal account.)

Unfortunately Lightspeed has it downsides. Their customer service team (which goes by the name of Lauren!) will often send automatic type responses to you. I know I've had a few surveys where at the end the survey seemed to break and I didn't get my points. I e-mailed 'Lauren' about it and the reply seemed to be 'oh wait a while for your points!' I know a few people who've had this same problem and they've never gotten their points back, but this is a chance you take.

If you wish to sign up to Lightspeed, I would highly recommend going through TopCashBack.co.uk as you get paid £1 just to sign up for free!

Summary: A good online survey site.
