Advantages: Get rewards for answering questions
Disadvantages: Long, boring surveys, and I'm always screened-out
***Updated opinion at the bottom***
I've been a Lightspeed member for around 3 weeks now and I'm slightly undecided as to how good it actually is...
Lightspeed is a survey website that is free to join. Once you've registered you'll be asked certain questions in order to match you with relevant surveys. When a new survey becomes available, it is shown on your Lightspeed Account and is also emailed to you.
Surveys usually take between 10 and 30 minutes to complete and contain multiple choice questions around a specific theme - mine have been around alcohol and computers so far.
After completing a survey, you will be rewarded with a certain amount of points, usually between 30 and 100. These points can then be exchanged in the Lightspeed shop. You can change your points for Amazon, Firebox and HMV gift vouchers (550 points = £5), over-priced games or withdraw them through PayPal (where 575 points = £5).
In my 3 weeks as a member I've only accrued 370 points, so I can't comment on how quick they are to pay as I'm letting them build up a bit first.
On the downside, you'll often get invited to a survey, spend a couple of minutes answering questions only to be told that you don't qualify or that the survey is full - meaning you've just wasted your time... this has happened to me 2 or 3 times already. I've also had some problems with surveys tacking - 2 surveys that I've completed have failed to load the confirmation page and so I've not got my points. Also be aware that you can only click on a link to each survey once, if you don't complete it first time, you can't start it again.
Overall, I'd say Lightspeed is worth joining if you can spare time to complete the surveys on your dinner hour, I'd never spend my own time completing them though.
***Update***
I've now been a member for over 2 months and I'm still stuck on 370 points. Why? Simple, they email to tell you that a new survey is available so you go to the website and click on the link. They then ask you THE SAME set of questions every time (are you male/female? Age, occupation etc) and then tell you you're not suitable for the survey - that's all I've had for about the past 6 weeks. They already know all this information - so why do I have to keep entering it all the time!? It's very annoying and quite frankly I've had enough of it! Lightspeed, I quit!
Summary: Usless!
