Creating a website isn't as difficult as you might think nowadays and you need to have only very basic web skills in order to get going. "Open source" software is now widely available - and the fact that it's open source means that it's free to use and can create not just a basic website but an e-commerce website, with only minimal technical input required. Examples of this are OsCommerce (one of the best known open source e-commerce packages) and Magento (one of the newer e-commerce packages). Both of these are completely free to download and use on your website, so all you need is to pay for a hosting company (and you can get that for as little as £1 per ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review General Web Design Tips: Web Design for Dummys (260 words)

Too many amateur web designers with no design skills attempt to put all kinds of distracting java graphics and moving ...  Read the complete review

My experience in web design is not professional, yet I have designed and built sites in the past to know a little about what works and what doesn't. Firstly getting the layout of a site is key to the success of a website, get this wrong and you won't get customers returning; there are lazy people in this world that like everything to be right at their finger tips, at times I fall into this category, which is why you need to make sure they don't have to do much to get to what they want. I always design websites that don't have scrolling pages; if necessary they might have scrolling sections within a page, but never the whole page. The user wants to ...  Read the complete review

First let me say that this review is not about which type of design to chose, but how to go about chosing one... basic inspiration. I will not go into great detail about the specific styles because the college text book I am writing this for is limiting it to 500 words. Finding your niche in web design can be easy of you just know a few key pieces of advice. There is alot of bad advice on the internet and even a few horrible videos I have seen that lead young people trying to find their way in the wrong direction. Here is my view. What is easy to do in web design and how to search for your own style. What is easy in web design is whatever ...  Read the complete review
