The website genie.co.uk has changed it’s name to O2.co.uk This has happened due to BT Cellnet (Old mobile part of British Telecom) changing it’s name to O2 after moving away from BT. O2 is formed from five mobile companies across Europe, and Genie, the mobile internet portal. This opinion is ... Read the complete review

I have been using genie.co.uk for quite a while now even though I have encountered some problems. First genie.co.uk used to be with BT that’s how I found it, but as it grew it got it’s own site. You have to register to be able to send free SMS messages, so you have to give your mobile number so they send you a ... Read the complete review

When i first got the internet in my room back in October, one of the first sites i joined up to was genie.co.uk. Many of my friends had been texting me through this site, and i thought it was about time i saved some money on my HUGE texting bill (i hardly ring from my phone, but send a million texts each and every day). ... Genie is a good website that provides free e-mail and text messaging. I only use it for text messaging, and so can only comment on that part of the service. What I like about Genie is that it lets you save your mobile phone numbers and thus you don't have to type them in each time, also, it lets you remember your friends and family ... According to other users who have had their say on dooyoo, genie.co.uk was apparently once a very poor site. Pages slow to load, messages slow to send, a sluggish design. I cannot fairly comment on any of these claims as I have used Genie only since its recent redesign which seems to have largely appeased its irate users. Looking at it ... Read the complete review

I have now been registered with Genie for some time and know of the problems that a lot of the reviews highlight. I particularly use the sms service to send text messages, this use to be an arduous task and as stated could sometimes take a few days. NOT ANYMORE, since the site upgrades around two months ago the messages are ... Read the complete review

I have used Genie.co.uk for quite a while. It was actually very slow so when they overhauled their website it was brilliant-or so I thought. I used it one day and out of interest sent a text to myself to see how long the messages were actually taking and was horrified to see someones elses mobile phone number attached to it. You have ... When I started using Genie.co.uk in 1998, it was the ONLY free sms service available for all four of the mobile networks (especially One2One becuase at that time there was no web based SMS service at all)....hence I used it a lot. At that time it served it's purpose well with relative speed. However as more people use this service ... Read the complete review

Sending text messages over the net used to be a slow process, now with Genie it is excellent. I signed up for Genie about a year ago, and the service was very poor. The site took a lifetime to load, and every time you changed the page, it was soooo slow! Now they have changed the design and layout of the whole site. ... Read the complete review
