Advantages: Tons of freebie's
Disadvantages: Site doesn't stand out
I been a massive freebie fan ever since I got connected to the internet, and yet I'd never heard of this site until, I read an opinion about it yesterday. So what did I do? You're guessed it I was over there like a shot, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised. The site. --------- When you enter this site, it's not exactly a work of art; there's a British flag, and a rather dull white background. The owner introduces the site by saying that most free stuff is aimed at Americans were as this site is for us Brits. There is a couple of links to other freebie sites, which are 2001freebies, and Magic Freebies, and you can also email the owner, if you have any new freebies or queries. The owner also claims that new freebies are added every day. If you look to the left of the page, you will notice a list of categories, if you look very hard you will see a hardly noticeable New Section. I actually never noticed the new section until I was ready to leave the site. However this site is for freebies, so lets look at what's available. What's New. ----------- This is the section containing the hot off the press freebies, so what's hot at the moment. I would say the free bottle of Fructis shampoo is a fantastic freebie, to get a bottle all you have to do is take a short quiz. Other new offers include a free stress squeezer in the shape of a boxing glove, a personalised notepad (wow). There is a free book called "Six Months To Live" by plough, I have received other plough publications and they are great, although they do tend to send you circulars through the post. Also there is a free Smint package, to receive this someone has to nominate you. So this site seems to be on the ball when it comes to the latest offers. Bets. ----- The bets section has to be my least favourite category on any freebie site, as most are a con. If you are into betting,
this section contains a couple of offers. Cash. ----- This is the section that tells you where you can earn cold hard cash. There are a couple of offers that have caught my eye such as the £5 stationary voucher and the £25 HMV voucher; these might be worth checking out. Of course, there is the usual pay as you surf programs such as Alladvantage and Desktop Dollars. I was surprised to see no mention of DooYoo on this site. Catalogues. ----------- This is your source if free catalogues, one that really caught my eye was the Zippo lighter catalogue which I have sent off for, there's also a Lego catalogue which might interest some people, and there is a free copy of PC Choice available from Tiny Computers. There are many other offers; I'm just mentioning which one's I think are the best. CD-ROMs. -------- I was quite impressed by the offers in this section, there is a free copy of Rainbow 6, the only snag is that you have to sign up to Line One to obtain a copy. What interested me the most was the Keebook Creator, which allows you to build a web site. For you football fans there is a football CD that contains lots of information about goals, and for the kids there is a Tarzan CD. Competitions. ------------- I hate it when freebie sites advertise competitions; it tends to spoil the site. Basically this section contains a few links to the big competition sites, might be useful to a beginner, but I didn't find this category very helpful. Downloads. ---------- Once again downloads spoil a freebie site, but for your information there are links to Freeloader, Gator, Winamp and Digiguide. As I said earlier, most people know about these sites anyway. Miscellaneous. -------------- This is quite a big section, that has freebie's that don't really fit into the other categories, there is quite a range of freebies, such as P
ens, MouseMats, Toys, Dog and Cat food, Stickers and Rubber Gloves. I would definitely check out this section, as there are lots of offers to choose from. Posters. -------- This section includes about seven different posters that can be sent off for, what more can I say. Publications. ------------- Publications is one of my favourite sections, and I wasn't disappointed with this site's selection, which includes a Muller Light recipe book, a pocket calendar featuring pictures of Bonnie Jill (Who's Bonnie Jill?) A Barbie sticker album, a Dundee bus timetable and a Barcardi recipe book. Ok they my not be the most exciting selection but you have a look, maybe something will interest you. Free Samples. ------------- Everybody's favourite section, don't you just love them free sample popping through your letterbox. This section has tons to choose from, there is Tanning Lotion, Pero Dog Food, Bodyform, Listerine, Galaxy Drink, Soap, Whiskas Cat Food and Tea. The list goes on and on. This section is well worth checking out. Conclusion. ----------- I have left a few categories out, as I didn't think they were worth mentioning. I have to say I was very impressed with this site, it's updated regularly, the pages load fast, the content is great, and I would highly recommend this site, even if you're a big freebie fan you could find something new here. All I'm waiting for now is for all my freebie's to arrive. Last Word. ---------- I think this site has great potential, however I would recommend re-designing the site, so that it's more accessible, the sections have to stand out more. Not forgetting they should have a link to DooYoo.
