Geocities is the best known free host on the internet. We've all seen them, http://uk.geocities.com/longdaftusername, usually the home of some tacky personal pages with music and bouncing animations. Why would anyone want to host their site there? It's true that the Geocities pages suffer from an image problem. ... Read the complete review

I have waited years to get a scanner and have the computer to cope with it. As I cannot afford to pay to have a webpage created for me and I do not know HTML I recommend Geocities (now Yahoo Geocities). Geocities is Free, with the option to upgrade and get a personalised web domain. In my opinion and having trawled most of the ... Read the complete review

Introduction Geocities was my first stop when I got the idea into my head that I needed a website. Around my college I saw lots of people using this thingy called page builder so I thought I’d take a look. After a while I started to use more complicated programs to make my site such as Dreamweaver, FrontPage and Publisher. Even though I ... Read the complete review

Geocities is the best way to mark your place on the Internet. It allows you to create a fantastic webpage all for free! First of all, you have to sign up with Geocities. When I first wanted to build a webpage I really didn't want to buy a domain as their mega-bucks! I started looking around places such as, Homestead, and Tripod. But none of them suited me! Homestead was to easy and was for a first time creater and and just didn't fancy Tripod. So I went to yahoo and searched, 'Free Webpage' and it ... Read the complete review

Geocities is one of the biggest webhosting sites on the internet and Really couldn't be any easier to use. Geocities really couldn't be any easier to use. There is plenty of easy help and the benefit of being in a large community. You can upload and edit html files without the need for an FTP program. There are even easy to use templates for non net savvy. There is also a handy section on site promotion. I would recommend this host for the beginner ... Read the complete review

I was originally with Geocities before Yahoo bought them, and so have seen the offering progress. It has clearly benefited from having Yahoo's backing behind it, although the service is still a bit lacklustre for anyone wanting a serious webpresence. Following the tie in with Yahoo, you are given webspace as part of your Yahoo e-mail ... Read the complete review

I have a baby daughter and access to a scanner and a digital camera, so of course I wanted to show my daughter off on the web. I tried to design a webpage at ivillage.com but found it so difficult to follow and so complicated. It took forever to look through designs etc and I gave up in the end. Then someone suggested homestead ... Read the complete review

Need a webpage? quick, easy and most importantly free?. I've been a member of geocities for about 3 years and after using several different online webpage creaters and providers this has to be the best. When you get a yahoo ID you can build your own web page. They are really easy to follow and even a person like me can create one. You can follow their wizard who does all the work for you. Just type in your information and let the wizard create your information. However, I am still working on it as it takes a bit of time if you ... Read the complete review

I was not that impressed with this provider as I tried it the other night. The first time I went on it and created my webpage I had no problems. Except for a few hiccups adding a picture of my own (theirs were a bit tacky and boring) But when I tried to get online to work on my webpage it was almost impossible. It was slow. The ... Geocities was the first free webspace provider I used. It was great at first, a generous 10 megs of webspace, later increased to 15, and later again allowing subdirectories (impossible to manage a website without them!). But pretty soon I was fed up of the constant pop-up adverts on every page if I forgot to put an advert banner on. I ... Read the complete review

If you haven't got to grips with HTML or got one of those nifty packages, no worries. You can get a basic webpage at Yahoo Geocities.com. All the software is ther online, you just use a webwizzard to put the page together. Without being rude, this is the simplest way to describe this product. The url's are long (even now they are just usernames, there isn't many related ones left!), and the banners make the site look terrible. In my experience, the servers aren't even really that fast (maybe ok if your site is aimed at US visitors though), and the ... Read the complete review

Geocite may have a community, which was built over a long period, but i hate it. the service i got poor, and what i hate is that when you do a page on thier server, then thier logo appears as a floating item all over it. There's not a lot you can say about geocities without using words that are considered as profanity. They started off quite well, but since merging with Yahoo, they have been on a constant down-fall. I have trusted them many times - unfortunately. I must have signed up to them about 8-10 times and each time failed. More recently though, ... Read the complete review
