getmapping.comNewest Review: ... On The 31st December 2000 A.D.? What a way with words I have ? if only it?d earn me some money. Flush with success, I decided to do the same for some friends of ours, who have a flat in Ealing and a house in Nether Stowey near Bridgewater. The London W13 location wasn?t too good as, from the air it was nothing but rows of houses, but the other location, surrounded b y open land was a much better proposition, and the finished result even included their car on the drive ? must have been taken at a w... more |

Is that Bed and Breakfast in a nice area? Where about in town is that shop? What is it like around where they live? How has that area changed since I visited it? Millennium Map goes near enough to answer these questions and many more, with Aerial photos of all of England and most of Wales. When you enter the site you are given four options, take 'home users' and the next page there will be a small box where you are prompted to enter a postcode. After you have typed the postcode of the place you want to see the next screen will give you all the properties that use that code. Click on the one you want and next you get the photo, yet the clarity of the ... Read the complete review

Getmapping.com offers a massive database of bird's eye view photographs of Britain. I was actually amazed to find my house on here and be able to zoom in over it. It's simply brilliant. To find a aerial photograph of your street/area simply type in your post code on the homepage. It will find all the houses/buildings with that post code and allows you to click on the one you want, e.g. your house. The maps are very detailed allowing you to zoom in by clicking on different regions on the map. You can even order any map for £19.95 (inc vat and p&p) The website is very well designed, easy to navigate and there is ... Read the complete review

So perhaps their claim of providing a "total ariel imagery solution" is now getting closer! On the downside, the photos are decidedly fuzzy (on my PC at least) - it's often difficult to make out some landmarks that I would have expected to have been able to see. This seems to be especially apparent if you are looking at a rural view. You can just about make out where the houses are, but not necessarily how many there are. I used the non-zoming ... One of the products from getmapping is there sister site the millenium map which was launched at the begining of the year in a blaze of publicity claiming everyone in britain will be able to locate the recidence in ariel photograph form a nice idea but it just doesn't work. The site was in its trial stage for months and months and even now isnt finished infact you go to the site and click on go to map and nothing happens you become stuck in limbo. Ive looked at one of the town maps they have ready loaded and the promises of locating your house just doesn't work if you zoom in looking for a certain property it goes all blury and you cant make anything ...
