getpounds.comNewest Review: ... while using the advertisement bar, you do not have to keep changing your URL every minute like you have to with Spedia.net. You simply have to actively use your computer while online, by doing things such as writing an opinion on Dooyoo. I cannot inform you if it slows your Internet connection down. This is due to the fact that no ads have been streaming yet, so I am not able to get this information. I have used other pay to surf bars before though, and they do not slow your Internet connection down too much. CAN I CHEAT? Many people used to cheat with the pay to surf programs when they first started up, as it was so easy. There were p... more |

THEY WILL NEVER START UP: I have come to the conclusion that Getpounds will never start. They have not even got a date on their website now for when it is going to be set up, which implies that they were lying about upgrading their servers. The message on the front page of their website now reads: 'The site will be shut down for the foreseeable future as we are facing critical funding shortage. It will not be possible to register during this period. We will email existing users when Getpounds is operational.' Well, I've signed up, I've accessed their page god knows how many times, I've downloaded their software, I've installed the software, I've tried the software, I've told all my friends, I've signed up some of my friends, and finally I've waited.... Getpounds.com are just another one of these get paid to surf schemes that just hasn't taken off the ground. I'm sure everyone is now aware of what these get paid to surf things are but incase you've been in a closet since, well '98, here it is: Basically they get you to sign up, and download their piece of software. When you run it, it displays adverts ... Read the complete review

From the very beginning, GetPounds was doomed to failure. Offering to pay £1 per hour while viewing adverts online was brave at best, and suicidal at worst. Many pay-to-surf programs have come and gone and in the current climate, many more will fail soon. Internet advertising is just not living up to expectations with many banners now being sold at heavy discount compared to 18 months ago. It all started to come tumbling down when All Advantage, the most famous of the programs went to the wall. Surfmiles have recently found the same happen to them - although they rather ambitiously hope that users will continue to use their navigation ... Read the complete review

Well, it seems that many companies are struggling to provide a pay-to-surf programme and GetPounds is no different. They were initially offering a staggering £1 per hour to their members. This would put many of the other similar schemes available on the net to shame. Many people have questioned the success of this scheme - would be really be financially viable to offer £1 per hour? The company has to date been signing up members with the promise that they would launch whenever they reached a viable threshold which at one point was 35,000 members. However, their website now reports that the company will not be accepting any more applications and that ... Read the complete review
