Advantages: Good Layout, Excellent response, Top clients
Disadvantages: none
I recently moved to London, where it was recommended that I try placing my C.V on the web through on-line recruitment agencies. I had put all my details on various other sites, but most of them were having no results or pickings that were offered were not the jobs I was looking for. A friend recommended that I look at Gisajob.co.uk. I was a bit sceptical about the site as the name of the site slightly too cheesy for my liking but luckly for me it was the site that I had been praying for. BACKGROUND: Gisajob is mainly an IT and Technology based recruitment site. The Advertising banner on the home page lists an impressive array of clients that they deal with such as, Intel and 3gmobiles amongst others. The site also claims to be the UK's largest free jobsite. SITE LAYOUT: The top of the page has a number of buttons that allow the more frequent visitor to jump straight to the page that they require. Slightly under the buttons is a search dialogue box that allows the visitor to search for jobs on the site using several different search parameters. This site actually does use the parameters to return results that are meaningfull to the search you carried out(not like some sites I have used) Under the search banner is a list of all the services that the site provides such as, top 100 jobs, submit c.v, update c.v and news. There are also separate sections for other recruitment agencies and companies to log on to search candidates based on the site. This site is very usefull for the fact that it also gives links to other recruitment sites, and sites which give advice on CV writing and interview techniques. Entering Details/C.V: Entering your personnel details on this site cant be any easier. Firstly you just enter a few personnal details such as name, phone number and address. The next section is concerned with jobs by e-mail, this is recommended if you want the site to send you details on jobs
that match your search criteria. You get to choose your own password which is a lot handier than some sites that send you huge 12 letter passes that cant be changed. The next section is the easiest of all you just update your C.V in WORD format using the browse button to select the desired file from your harddrive. It is also recommended that you cut and paste your CV onto the space provided. I found entering details on this site a great deal easier than other sites were you had to entet 10 or so pages of mandatory data rather than just submitting a C.V RESULTS: Well as promised the site does e-mail you any jobs that appear in your search criteria. If you are luck to get agencies phoning to put you forward for positions they are really first class, keeping you up to date with all stages of your application. The best being phoned by the agency on Monday, having the interview on the Wednesday and being told I got the job on the Thursday. So now thanks to the site I have a IT related job with an Investment bank in the city with more money than I had original said I was looking for on the site.

- 29/01/01 You reminded me of the origins of the phrase "gisajob".
Do you recall "yosser" in "Boys from the Black Stuff"
