Advantages: still a fantastic charity, you can donate money to this charity via debit / credit card

Disadvantages: no free click

My low rating does not reflect at all on the work of this charity, which I think is very worthwhile. I would just like to say that givewater.org still links to the website of a fantastic charity 'Water Aid', but you can no longer generate a donation for the charity with a free click, as this scheme has finished. I am disappointed about the lost of this project, but happy that it produced enough clicks in order to reach their end goal.

This website is still worth visiting to read about the aims of this organisation, who were set up by Thames Water, in an attempt to readdress the balance between those who have water and those who don't. They work in many poverty stricken places to help people gain access to water, sanitation and hygiene education. Their website still allows you to donate money via credit / debit card, and discover support them in other ways such as campaigning, fund raising, volunteering and jobs. I only choose not to because I have my own favourite charities already (WWF, WLT & RSPB).

I think free click to donate sites are a brilliant idea, and there are many other websites that offer this. The system works because the companies who advertise on the page then pay money directly to the charities, which costs you nothing. The listed websites have been adware, spyware and virus checked. They do save cookies on you computer to count the click, but these are not dangerous I believe that the best is www.care2.com - see my review of this site for more information. The following is a list of websites that still run click to donate free:

Top 3
- www.care2.com/click-to-donate (11 tabs)
- www.ecologyfund.com (4 red buttons)
- www.thehungersite.com (and 5 other tabs)

Other smaller sites
- www.landcareniagara.com (1 button)
- www.wildglobe.com (click on the jaguar picture)
- http://cannecy.free.fr/solar/index.php (1 button)
- http://cannecy.free.fr/iforest/en/index.php (1 button)
- www.diewaldseite.de (click on the 'STOP' button)
- www.ettklickforskogen.se (click on the 'GRATIS' button)
- www.redjellyfish.com (2 buttons)
- http://www.theenvironmentsite.org/donate.php (1 button)
- www.tree4life.com (click on the map)

Help charities for free!
1. Go to care2.com/click-to-donate
2. Click on the buttons
3. Save them to your favourites and click once a day to help more

Conclusion

Water Aid are a great charity and www.givewater.org is just as good as any other charity information website. They do not run a free click to donate program any more, but there are many other websites that do. Click to donate is easy, quick, safe and free, please give it a go.

Summary: a worthwhile cause.

Some charities may e run like that, but there are plenty of decent organisations. My favourite is the World Land Trust.

Shame that the free click has finished. Thanks for the reminder about the other sites though x

My concerns about a lot of charities are the salaries on offer and the sumptuous head offices they have. Check out the Guardian jobs section on a Thursday and you will see what I mean. I prefer to give to the local hospice and RNLI who rely soley on donations.
