Do you ever use water? I do!!!

When I am thirsty I can go to the kitchen turn on a tap and have a drink. I can drink it as it comes out of the tap or I can add some flavour to it.

When I am cooking I can turn on a tap, add water to a pan and cook with it.

When I am washing the dishes on goes that tap and I have a bowl full of lovely hot water.

When I am washing myself turn on the taps and out comes water.

The toilet flushes with lots of lovely water.

When I am washing clothes I turn on the washing machine and the tub fills with water and the clothes come out clean.

If I want to was the car, water the garden or just fill up a paddling pool I turn on a tap and water comes out of the hose to do the job.

There are lots of times in out life we use water. It is essential to life and it makes life more comfortable. It is a privilege to have a constant supply of clean water and one, which in Britain we come to expect. If there is any question about the quality of our water there is uproar! We have so much water in this country that we do not just use it but we waste it.

Imagine a life where you water had to be collected from a well, the water may be a dirty brown colour and full of germs. Imagine not knowing whether you were going to be made ill by the water you use. Imagine seeing your water supply dwindle. For many people these are not just horrific ideas but they are reality.

What can I do to help. I am not a water engineer and I am tied to my life in Britain so how can I help?

There is a site that can help, it is called Givewater.org. If you go to this site then click on the sign, which says CLICK HERE, you will help, just a little bit but every little bit helps. If you want to help some more you can look around the site and see where you can donate money to help. The money is provided by Themes Water and they have pledged to give the money as long as you click!


What do these donations do for those in need of water?

The money is given to Water Aid. This is a charity, which helps to provide safe and reliable water supplies for people in 15 poorer countries in Africa and Asia. It also helps with the sanitation and improves the quality of life of many people. They say that £10 is enough to supply clean water for one person for a lifetime!

I think it is well worth visiting Givewater.org every day, it costs you nothing and can help improve the life of so many people. When you have given that days water you can then have a look around the site and find out more about the work yourself.
